I’ve always loved shooting outdoors under the playful sunlight. I guess it was always about the adventure behind it. Walking towards the light and looking for sun rays spilling over trees and onto the ground, on my muse’s face or down her fingertips. And then there were the clouds diffusing the intensity of the light, the tone of the atmosphere according to the time of the day. In time it became so simple. I never had to think hard. I’d take photographs like it was a game of all sorts of fun I’ve mastered.
When I dropped out of the multimedia arts course my parents enrolled me in late May last year, I used the money to enroll myself in a one-year long professional photography program. A balance of what they want and what I did. And although I dropped out again six months into it, there I learned about master photographers and way more technicals than I could possibly ever need. Of course I appreciated all the knowledge I received. Shooting with artificial lights in studios most, because it was different, and it was comfortable.
These are only a selective few of my favorites, all ranging from class projects to little experiments and test shoots.
Models: Gen Abad, Alicia Faubel, Jach Manere, Thea de Rivera
Make-up artists: Magic Arboleda, Julia Arenas, Aria Ortega
Shooting with artificial lights isn’t so much of my forte I think but I do look forward to cheating on the sun a couple more times in the future. Only in moderation of course!
